Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a health issue she has been fighting in recent days.
At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to regain her health ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.
Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together again next season.
The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the deciding set in the match with Zhu because of the lower back problem that has affected her during parts of the season.
Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after more than three years for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.
She secured 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.
Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.
The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.
